Unchangeable Certainty

Twenty years ago, the first year of the 21st century started with some massive Y2Y concerns, fears that computers would not shift from 1999 to 2000 correctly. Fortunately, by the end of 1999, many companies had already converted to new, or upgraded, existing software. As a result of that massive effort, relatively few problems occurred.

Twenty years later, the world is facing new daunting challenges, Brexit, coronavirus, more climate change, US elections, these uncertainties will require additional effort to navigate and overcome.

The events of 2000 only serve to reinforce that “Life is a mixed bag no matter who we are”.  Each year we encounter a combination of unpredictable blessings and successes, and along with those are unavoidable challenges. In this respect, 2020 will be no different from the other years – but both the blessings and the challenges will be new and different. Even on the cloudiest of days, the sun still shines. Difficult times test our patience, self-control and resilience.

How do we manage the uncertainty when we depart from our expected track? In other words, how do we improvise in everyday life

“The one unchangeable certainty is that nothing is certain or unchangeable”.  John F. Kennedy

With that in mind, I suggest that we approach the year with an open mind, curiosity and faith in ourselves.  Through that process, we will discover the strength and wisdom within us.

May 2020 bring you abundant blessings, help broaden your horizons, and achieve at least one cherished goal.
